Janis Johnson-Durr is a psalmist,writer and educator. Janis has a long history of ministering through music in the Jackson and surrounding areas.She began singing at age five and traveled the United States with her parents, the late Bishop Joseph & Supervisor W.Marie Johnson, singing and sharing the gospel through music. Janis continues to sing and travel with her local choir. Her love for God and passion for others motivates her music ministry. Janis Johnson -Durr is presently National Music President for “The Evangelist Temple (HORFAN)COGIC INC, where she trains & works with some of the greatest singers and musicians.
Janis was privileged and honored to sang with reknown artist Keith Pringle, saxophonist,Dr.Vernard Johnson,Merna Summers,Vanessa Bell Armstrong,Beverly Crawford, Lannie Spann McBride,late Mattie Moss Clark, James Cleveland and Moses Tyson play with her choir. She was voted female soloist of the year in 2012 by the Jackson, Music Awards to add to earlier awards from JMA. Janis assisted by Dr. Lisa Moore Williams and music producer,Toby Johnson, along with her local choir, “Evangelist Temple Mass Choir” released the cd, ” It Shall Come To Pass”in 2014 and can be heard on local radio stations and in other states.Presently she has written original music for her National church,”70 year Celebration” to be introduced October 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri to honor her late founder Bishop SR Chambers.
